Hello
I am new to the forum
I got this a few years ago off EBAY and Ive had 2 people tell me it may be a Paul Bigsby
I found 1 photo online of one his that sure looked similar (although it was a pedal steel) but the same wood (rock maple?) and the machine head assembly was identical
The only info I had from the estate sale was that it was bought used in 1952 and the fellow had passed away and he was in charge of selling his belongings
I bought it from central California where Paul Bigsby lived and built his beauties
If anyone has any info I would sure appreciate it |

The good news is there are 2 or 3 of THE authorities on Bigsby in the world right here on the Forum...almost daily.
Be patient, they'll see this soon. _________________ RICK ABBOTT

That doesn't appear to be a Bigsby made steel guitar to me, but I cannot identify the maker. It's a nice piece of wood, but neither the fretboard, tuner mechanism nor pickups appear to be those used by Mr. Bigsby.
I've moved this from the Forum Feedback section into Steel Without Pedals so more people can have a go at trying to identify it. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Not a Bigsby. Ask the men who own one (with apologies to whatever is left of the Packard Motor Co.). _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

In MY opinion, this guitar simply does not measure up to the high quality standards that Paul Bigsby established early on.
The wood is not the same(?)......
Too much glitzy tin or chrome plating........
The volume and tone knobs are too clutsy.........
The phony fret board is not of his stature.........
The only thing similar that I detect are the tuning pegs. |

The keyheads were professionally cast by somebody, who is unlikely to have stopped at those two? And it has that 50's vibe, Modern Space-Age Plexiglass! fingerboards and all. Keep digging... in the meantime you've got a guitar to play too! |

He likely took the key heads off something else. _________________ Chris Lucker
