| It's at tube amp and they sound great. They had 6AQ5's or 6V6's and an unusual interstage transformer. I used to have one that I kick myself for selling. It did the Rod Wood Faces tone perfectly. |

Cool little amps. Mine's one of the later ones from 1979, judging from the speaker code. A pair of 6V6 power tubes and a single 12AX7 in the preamp, with a solid-state rectifier.
Not much good for bass except as a really quiet practice rig. The 12-inch speaker makes it suitable for lap steel if you don't need a whole lot of volume. Really good harp amp. Takes pedals well.
Popular platform for mods. In an upgraded pine cabinet with a floating baffleboard to replace the stock CBS particle board box, an efficient speaker, a good set of NOS tubes and some minor tweaking, these little guys are wolves in sheep's clothing.
Possibly the least expensive Fender point-to-point tube amp available today. |
