With great sorrow, I am selling my Marrs cat can lap steel. I believe it is from 80s. I bought it from Billy Cooper many years ago. Serial #189. It is in very good condition, and sounds great. The newer models have a processor to switch from dobro sound to lap steel. They are right at $1000. I am selling this one to forum members for $375 plus shipping. Be happy to send more pics, or answer any questions.
I have 8 lap steels on ebay now, and will be listing more here.
Next up--Ted Smith's last Melobro #18

They sound great!
I would be at Duane's home shop in Madison on Sioux Terrace when he was building them. He had cats and did use the cat food cans.
I think I had one on my lap in the Tim McGraw video 'Welcome To The Club' when I was playing with Tim. Sonny Garrish played the session and the song had both steel and dobro in it.
I also played one at Opryland when I worked the on The Country Music USA Show in the park. I'd play it on Roy Acuff's 'Walbash Cannonball'.
I had one of the first Matchbro's also that I bought from Buddy Emmons. I met Peggy in a parking lot off Lebannon Road in Hermitage, she was in a Mercedes and I handed her $130 and she handed me the unit.
The Marrs cat can sounded a thousand times better than the Matchbro to me and it doesn't need the power supply or 9 Volt batteries to make it work. _________________ First owner of Steelseat.com
