From a Slide Show in today's Nashville Tennessean: Pete Drake & Jimmy Capps at Columbia w/ Patti Page. Pete is playing "Goldie" (you can see the crossover lever to the left) through a Randall Commander II amp.
Same session: Pattie Page w/ the Jordanaires:
L to R – Hoyt Hawkins, Gordon Stoker, Neal Matthews Jr, Ray Walker.

Great photos - thanks for sharing Robert!
I don't suppose you know what year Sho-bud came out with the crossover model?

I would think about '66. Rick Abbot has the earliest one I've seen. |

PS: I wonder what Pete Drake's E9 tuning looked like before the crossover came out and he didn't have the luxury of all those pedals? |

Greg, before knee levers came along, Pete just had the standard A, B, and C pedals, except that he also lowered the 2nd string a full tone with the A pedal.
By the way, most older players also know that Pete's big nameplate on the front of that Sho~Bud covered up Buddy's "Buddie Emmons" monicker, which was on the front of that guitar (since Buddy Emmons owned it first). |

Thanks Donny. I really like Pete - it was his playing that first drew me to the steel (on Dylan's JWH, Nashville Skyline, and Self Portrait albums).
