I think he has a D between the C and E strings on C6 and he doesn't have the low C . If I ever get another D10 I might add a D .

I did the same thing a few years ago on my Uni 12 stringer by dropping the low B string and moving the 9th string B down (along with the other three) and adding a C# string in the 9th slot. My bottom string is now an E, 11th a G# and 10th a B.. I love it...JH in Va.

| Terry uses standard E9 tuning on pedals and knee levers. C6 is a different setup that he and Emmons came up with from what I remember. Anyway, the string tunings are DECAGEDCAF.... From high to low. Don't ask about pedals and knees because I cant remember. haha |

Me neither. But he of course has all the basic 4 to 5 knee lever changes we all use on standard C6th. And I'm sure he still experiments. Does he raise or lower the middle D? I want to say he raises it 1/2. But I can't remember what I had for lunch.
Adding a pedal the places the D in the middle is much easier for me. Than relearning the standard grips. But your mileage may vary.
However, if I were starting from scratch. Knowing what I know today. I would do it Terry's way.
The pedal I mentioned is Franklin's pedal 5.

I use the middle D note in my C6, and when I was researching this concept I found this on the old Carter website using the Wayback Machine.
It is Wayne Dahl's copedent with the middle D, its not Terry Crisp's but lot of good ideas in it, I settled on something very similar.

| I have a Fessenden that was owned by Terry. The E9 was standard set up, but also had a vertical lever to lower the b string. This steel has 9 pedals. The 9th one gives you a cool augmented voicing. I have it listed for sale on here too. |
