| I'm thinking of doing a build loosely base on the New Yorker. Does anyone know the wood or woods that were used on these models? |

| The 1938 National catalog says maple. I've never seen a New Yorker that was clearly made of something else. |

| I'd have guessed poplar, recalling the appearance of exposed wood where the black paint has chipped off mine. But on closer examination, it does look like maple (a bit difficult to tell, because most of the exposed wood is end grain). I'd say a relatively soft maple. |
