Hi, was on hold for a member but he is giving me the option to take off hold if I can find another buyer. Have had several trade/cash or cash offers. To see if I can finally move this to someone who is ready to go, now lowered to $1100 plus $65 ship, and that really is getting down to "rock bottom" on this ALSO I have two packs of strings (C6 and E9) that I will throw in since I was going to restring but obviously never got to it. [/b]At this price, really not looking for any straight trades, although cash+some trade is OK (and I've had a couple of those offers, pretty fair, that didn't work out). I added the weight (in-case), not quite as heavy as I thought but still pretty hefty.
Original listing: An early Rus-ler (has 001 stamped into the bottom of the frame although I don't know how his serial numbers ran) that is very much in the style of the Zane Beck steels (but with fancier metal work and some design changes on the undercarriage) as Russ worked for Beck before going off on his own. This doesn't have the fancy metalwork of his later ones, and no decal but it does have the logo on the apron. Nice inlay work and tasteful metal appointments at the corners, the cast pedals, etc. Some bar dings and minor chips in the finish but it's a very nice piece of maple and the translucent finish sets that off nicely. Color is more purple than red but looks more red in the pics. A couple of things: first, this thing is heavy, I just weighed it in the case and it came out to approximately 75 lbs, so the steel is a bit less than that.. Second, although the pickups work (dual coils and each has a separate centralab switch) this will definitely need some tuning and setup as it has been sitting for a long time, and I am not sure what modifications may have occurred over time or what may need adjustment. I haven't brought this in to a tech to check out, but I know you guys are pretty sharp about seeing what's what given good pictures. I am including several closeups of the undercarriage, and I also posted a bunch of pictures here, since it takes some time to get very many in this listing:

The original case had some cracks on one end and I have since glued that up but it could still use some glue elsewhere, and the covering is pretty beat up along one of the long bottom edges. I am asking $1650 NOW $1350 OBO, plus $65 CONUS shipping. I think it would be absurdly expensive to ship outside the US but I can check. Easiest to contact me at jkally3@cox.net as I don't get to PMs right away; if you do send a PM also post a "reply" so that I get an email alerting me to a new PM. I also notice that sometimes PMs take a long time to get out of the Outbox but maybe that's just my computer. Here's a sample of the pics up at the above link:

Hello John..That looks just like one I have. A Deluxe , with the hand painted front stripes by a reknown pinstriper of the time in phoenix. Also has the 3 way tap coils. I bought the Dwight from you. What a fine piece. Anyone who deals with John will get a great guitar at a fair price. Good luck John!

Thanks. It's still here, so I took it down one more time. Possible partial trades if something I can use or can sell for somewhere in the ballpark. But cash, as usual, is preferred. Moving in a few months and would like to not lug some of this stuff with me!

I've owned quite a few various make and model pedal steel guitars , but the one steel that STILL stick's in my head as far as tone goes , is the old Rusler that I took appart and cleaned up and put back together ......These steels have TONE TO THE BONE !!......If I were not a UNI 12 player , I would be buying this steel in a heart beat !! ....Good Luck with the sale John .....Jim

Still available and now with what I hope is a more attractive price, plus including some strings too. In the middle of selling one house and buying another (what a pain!) but I will get back to everyone as promptly as I can. Thanks!
