I stumbled across a treasure trove of over 700 photos of Carl & Pearl on Flickr. I don't know much about how Flickr works, but here is the url: https://www.flickr.com/photos/83022989@N00/with/750622765
There's a way to see the pics as a filmstrip. The photos are of Carl & Pearl on stage, at home, backstage, with family, with other country singers, album covers, and so on. I felt like I knew them personally at the end.
What great voices and great Nudie outfits! This was real country music. I miss those days, and I know a lot of of other people miss those times and miss the Butlers. |

Very classy. Modern so-called country acts could take lessons from Carl & Pearl. |

gary;
man, this is a great study on carl and pearl. how did you just stumble onto a treasure like this?
I'm curious about the daughter, Carla, if she is not connected to this legacy. wouldn't she have a story!I, as many others, loved the butlers musical style and presence. on my 1st trip to Nashville in the early 7o's, I was amazed when I was introduced to a lady meat cutter at kroger and it was pearl butler....her advise to me was, don't never quit your day job, you might need it someday!

I never got to see them live;but they were two of my all-time favorites that left us much too soon.Carl was one of the best honky-tonk singers that ever graced a stage.He and Pearl were just the greatest and really looked the part.It's a shame that our so called "country" stars of today wear clothes that I wouldn't wipe my butt with.
My favorite tune:"Just Thought I'd Let You Know".I look at them on Youtube regularly.I just might sing that at the Brandon Opry,if I get to sing there again.
Hope to see you soon,Country Jack.

An amazing photo essay that still stands out in spite of all the crap proliferating out there these days. |

I liked ol' Carl and Pearl too... My favorite tune of theirs was "Honkytonk..itis... That last line of the chorus was "If you don't change your way of livin,... you'll get Honkytonk itis in your soul....JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Jack, I just stumbled across this collection while I was looking at vintage western wear photos. I couldn't believe it. It's like stepping into their living room. They were the real deal. |
