Anyone use a heating pad to soften the adhesive on a plastic fret board?

I have need to reposition a fret board that was subjected to a hot environment, while in the case...sitting on it's side.

I won't use a heat gun because of the chance of damaging an irreplaceable fret board (with too much heat). I figure if a heating pad won't damage your skin, it should be safe on a plastic fret board...on low heat.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

A hair Dryer works very well, also without damage as it doesn't get too hot.
