I have a Peavey Nashville 1000 (stock) and was wondering if some of you might shed a light on settings that you prefer. I have 5 guitars that I play back and forth and haven't found that sweet spot yet.
Zum with 710's
Emmons SKH with xr116 and original PU on the back neck
Franklin with original 705
Williams with newer 705
Carter with XR16
Appreciate anybody's input. I just can't seem to get it dialled in.

Brian, my favorite settings with SKH Emmons, orig BL705 on E neck and Emmons orig on the c neck were like this
Guitar direct to 1000 input
Return loop to Goodrich l120
Back to preamp
EQ low at 6 or 7, shift about 600, mid about 7 or 8, highs about 5,
Presence about 4
Out to boss dd3 (minimal delay)
Return to amp
Rev tank stock from factory
Easy on gain and volume to taste
Adj rev and delay depending on room
Slight tweaks to eq
Often had solid body les Paul plugged into the other input.
I guess I was happier with that rig more than any other. Using geo L stainless strings on the Emmons and EB nickel on the gibson
At the time, I never had to make but slightest adjustments to get tone, no matter if it was big venue or little dance hall
Plug and play man, that's what I was after.
Best commercial amp for the money imho

I can't recall if the N1000 used 1-10 or +/-dB markings, so try the following settings from "clockface" descriptions. Most Peavey amps behave the same way, but the models impart their own tone (in my personal opinion, you chose the least pleasant of their offerings), so any knobs should point about the same way on all models.
Volume/pre gain: 10 or 11 o'clock
Bass/low: between 4 and 5
Mid: either around 10 or 2
Shift: 2 or 10 (opposite of mid)
Treble and presence: around noon, but they affect sharp/shrill more than color, adjust to taste. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I think clock face probably a better way to describe it. Thanks Lane.. But it's really punched up mid range for me.. I don't recall if it was numbers or +-0 but my settings relative as if 5 is mid position or 1200 o'clock if you prefer. |

Here, in the second post in the thread, is how a sound tech had told me thirty years ago how to set Peavey gear.
Step by step, setting the knobs by method.

Thankyou gentlemen
This is great info. Does anyone have the (Ken Fox) mods on a 1000? If so would it make a significant difference? _________________ Williams SD10 ZumD10 Fessenden D10 . Evans RE150 peavey N400's GKMB 200 emminence speakers!, Live steel strings. |

What IC chips are in it now? I'm not familiar with any mods other than rolling chips. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I honestly can't tell you Lane .
I bought it when I picked up the Franklin from an elderly man in Pa. It's brand new . He said he might have used it 12 hours .
So! I would surmise it's a factory setup. I'm not even sure there are any mods for a Nashville 1000.

Every Peavey amp I've ever owned I found that for my taste, turn mids all way to left and shift at 12 o'clock and adjust lows and highs to your personal preference or guitar. _________________ Henry Matthews

Thanks Lane. I don't know why I didn't do that in the first place.

Brian, do me a favor, try the setting I stated above before you spend hours with those Peavey settings. Start out with the bass and highs at 12 o'clock, mids all way to left and shift at 12 o'clock. _________________ Henry Matthews

those settings pictured look alot like what i use on an ltd400 and a nash400. both those amps sound great. so if the 1000 doesn't, it must be due to the overall sound of that amp. that may be why i've never even seen one. |

Chris, the 1000 isn't for everyone. I've had two of them and just couldn't dial in my preferred tone. My friend has one and always like his tone. I always went back to the LTD or Nashville 400 and I basically use same settings on both amps. Guess it has to do with touch and technique on how the amp sounds because Travis's 1000 sounds great with him playing it. The settings I post above sounded best to my ears. _________________ Henry Matthews

Henry, I agree with. The 1000 has a bit more head room. I didn't like it at first, but mike brown had it fixed free of charge. I don't know what they did but when it came back from mike, it was sounding great.
I've played Nash 400, session 400, Randall steelman, Evans combo, evans stereo, and I liked the Nashville 1000 over all. My second choice was Evans, then Session 400 and the Nashville 400, last but not least was the Randall 500.
I would like to have an LTD
Chris - the 1000 will get honky real easy. I had some stage volume problems with it. But kept on it and did what mike and them suggested. I got to where I really loved it. It took several gigs to get it where I wanted it. |

I owned 2 nashville 1000s and the first one didnt sound all that great for some reason. I took a chance on another one in need of an amp with a 15 inch speaker and it sounded really good. This one is stock and like Bill said it gets the mid honk if you dial up too far. I tend to keep my mid at 9 to 10 oclock and shift from 1200 to 100 oclock. |

The 112's have the 1000 pre-amps in them and it would seem to me that the same mods would work well for either amp but an electronics guy I am not however it doesn't take one to swap out the chips (op-amps) in most instances as long as you're careful. |
