Buddy was born in 1937, so that would make him about 15 yrs of age.

Think those two Fender guitars might be worth anything these days? |

Sadly, I think the two "armpit" guitars would be worth 10-20 times what the steel would be worth. |
True no doubt, but then again we're talkin' about Buddy's steel... |

The picture is kind of fuzzy and we can't see the headstock, but one of those "Tele's" could be an early precision bass. They came out in 1951. |

Could be a Broadcaster or a "Nocaster." Definitely not a Precision Bass.
Great photo. Thanks for sharing. |

Funny- one has the neck pickup, one doesn't....
So one is a Tele, one is a Broadcaster? |

I am the original owner of a Blond "67" Tele I bought back then. Maybe, it has about 200/300 hours play on it. Guitar Center offered me $8,000 for it a few years back. Amazin!! I declined, thought they would part it out, it's not for sale.
That said, I am fairly sure that's not a Stringmaster Mr. Emmons is playing. Wonder where that Steel wound up? TX

Fender Custom. It's an oldie - the chrome peghead plate(s) are bent over the end and screwed down, Fender "spaghetti" logo and chrome diamond bolt covers on the front.

Apparently there were early Telecaster basses; medium scale six-string, like a baritone, with tele-style pickguard. |

Yep, here's a '68, their first year of issue. Don't know about the six-string thing though…

The first Fender Precision bass came out in 1951.
This had a plank body like a Telecaster.
In 1954, they came out with a Precision bass that had a contoured body like a Stratocaster.
I bought this model in 1955.
