MUSICIANS - This is the news we have all been waiting for - the final disposition regarding air travel with musical instruments. This webpage, http://www.dot.gov/airconsumer/air-travel-musical-instruments which is listed in the article, gives links to several websites full of information for musicians traveling with instruments. Of particular interest is a chart listing the policies of every airline that is a member of the AIrlines for America alliance.
You have the right to take an instrument on board, subject to airlines' limitations, as long as there is space available to accommodate the instrument. Do everything within reason to ensure early boarding and high availability of overhead compartment space (premium or upgraded seating) and select a nonstop flight if possible.
