Well, I did it! I haven't replaced the strings on my U-12 Zum in over a year! I was conducting a test to see how long they'd last and New Year's Eve was the deadline. I've played over 70 gigs with these strings and no breakage or real loss of tone. In fact, I played the hell out of my 3rd string doing a lot of Mooney licks and it didn't break or go out of tune at all. These strings never go out, when I'm playing at all. I tune them at the beginning of the night and they stay set, all night. I'm really impressed with them. The strings I'm talking about are stainless Live Steel Strings. Normally, I would never go that long without changing strings, but, I was curious about how they'd hold up and am now totally convinced about them. I don't like to endorse anything because each persons experience can and usually is different, but, I thought I'd just comment about my experience. My hats off to Sid Hudson and his strings. |

Hi, John, thanks for the report. I have several Zum 12's and I'm glad to hear your positive experience. I'll have to check out these live steel strings. Best wishes, MvA _________________ Stop by the Steel Store at: www.markvanallen.com

I've had Live Steel strings on my Williams D10 since June playing an average of about 3 hours a day and have broken only one string - #10 on the E9 - probably because I also lower that string to an A as well as the C# raise and use it alot. I can't say enough about these strings. I'm going to change them soon just because! _________________ 2016 Williams D12 8 x 8, 2015 Williams D12 8 x 8, 2023 Williams S12 4 x 5, Milkman Amps, 1974 Gibson Byrdland |
