This is a beautiful sounding guitar played by a super player.
Ted if your going to quit playing my friend, I hope it'll only
be for a very short time. Your too good to give up something
you're so good at and love to do so much. I hate to see you quit.

Carl...I e'mailed Ted at the new address he's given and it came straight back. I've been trans Atlantic friends with him for a few years. I even have a pic of him with a black Carter on my Website on the "Friends and Aquaintences" page. I do hope he's alright. he's an outstanding player as you know Sad

Here's Ted playing in Dallas. I think that's a Burgandy Carter, Ted referred to as Mauve.

Maybe he's implying he no longer plays these Carters? Here's hoping he's not ill.

Bobby....that's "NOT" the case. He is personal friends with Bud Carter and Bud personality made these for him...it could be a "private" issue.

Ted is moving to the far east and either Viet Nam or Thailand. He told me but I don't remember.

Ted had an auto accident while he lived in Texas and some other medical issues and may be why he has quit playing.

I go back to Lebanon, Pa with Ted. He was THE pedal steel guitar player in central Pa in the mid 60's. The pedal steel guitar player in the band I was in (I was the lead guitar player) was taking lessons from Ted and he too turned out to be a very good steel player.

Hi Jack....I know he was in contact with a girl from Vietnam or Thailand...he was married for a while to a Phillipino lady. I knew about his road accident, it gave him serious back problems....I just hope it works out for him. As to why he wants to quit playing I can't understand, with so much talent in those hands. Tom, I'm not sure of the amp of the tele player, but Ted always used an Evans or a Webb. He once sent me a picture of him and Jim Evans Jamming together Very Happy

I've spent a lot of time in Thailand and China. He should bring his steel with him. There probably aren't many or any pro-players over there and most of the locals trying to play western music aren't very good.

I have thought about retiring to Thailand, it is very cheap for US citizens to live there like a KING.

I would not recommend bringing an Asian citizen from Thailand or China to the USA. I did and it didn't work out.

Andy...you're right. Maybe if he's headed out to the Far East, he must know somebody in the States to look after his steels, as sometimes things just don't work out. I hope he reads these comments as the e'mail I sent came straight back. Perhaps somebody Stateside should call him on the # he provided. It would be very expensive to call from U.K. especially if we wanted to have a decent chat. I did call Canada last week to order a Carter Decal (old style)..but that was a short call just to place an order. If someone does call could you mention it on here please. Adios for now.

andy...i don't know what the instrument market would be like in the far east. since your expertise seems to be in selling things, i suppose you'd want to consider that.

Micky,

I also emailed him at that address and the same thing happened, it came right back.

I haven't been to Thailand in 9-10 years and since then the exchange rate has gone from about 41 Thai Baht to 1 dollar down to 30 Baht to 1 dollar.

I met some ex-pats there who told me an american with 100K could retire there and live like a king so now I guess you need around $125K and it probably depends on how old you are also.
