I'm thinking about ordering a FYD town and country steel amp from Dan Lurie at FYD. I have not played one however. I know John W. likes them a lot. Any other users out there? Comments?

I haven't tried one of his amps, but Dan is a stand up guy and a great amp tech. He's fixed several for me that other techs were unable to. I would love to try an FYD.

I heard John W's FYD and was VERY impressed , and I have a LOT of gear to compare to .....Very rich and pronounced and lot's of clean tube sustain to the notes that bloomed well ....Nice stuff that Dan builds !!....Jim

Yup. I use a variety of different amps (tube and SS): I'm particularly happy with my FYD. Dan is a great guy to work with. Highest quality, and unique features. I'm running mine with KT120 Output tubes and some very nice NOS blackplate 6SL7s. 6SN7's sound even richer and creamier, but do lower the gain and volume a bit.(really good for recording) It also sounds great with 6L6's, 6550's and KT88's.

For questions and more info contact Dan Lurie at FYD amps.

Happy new year!

Mitchell,

I also own one. Because people's tastes in
sound and tone are varied and subjective, I
don't like to try and convince them one way or another. But, now that you have committed yourself,
I will chime in and say; you made a great choice,
and will be a happy camper !!

I had Dan build me the octal tube preamp that I power with a Carvin TS – 100 upgraded with KT 90 tubes. Run them into two Tommy cabinets, one Eminence , one Telonics speaker. Phenomenally warm and clear sound with tons of headroom and response you can only get from a tube rig. Best sound I've ever had.

From an amp builder's perspective I like what Dan at FYD Amps are building, the units are designed and built well.

Good value for the cost.

Thanks for all the good input. I play to order in the the next day or so. Everyone seems to hold Dan and his amps in high regard. That says a lot. The only other time I bought an amp without trying one was when I bought a Fox amp and that turned out well for me. That is a great amp as well.
Have a happy and safe new year folks.
