I recently purchased these pickups and they're suppose to be 710's. They look totally different on the side than the other 710's I've used in the past which looked exactly like the XR-16 pickups and the magnets weren't visible like these. From the top, as you can see, they look exactly like the 710's.
These also read 22.5K and the others in the past read 28K range if memory serves me correctly. Feel free to educate me!
Thanks,
Dave

They look like 710's, but I've never seen a 710 with the sides exposed like that. I've never seen an XR-16 that I know about. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Mystery is solved. The forumite I purchased these pickups from, a super nice guy I may add, gave me the history of these particular pickups which are indeed 710's. They were an early version of the 710 and I'm pretty anxious to try them out.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi, David. Those are EARLY model 710s. I bought them from Paul Franklin Sr. around 1998 and had them installed in my Lashley Legrande after my single coils went microphonic. Mr. Franklin told me that was what Paul Jr. was using at that time. To my knowledge, they were not specially wound. I kept them on that guitar until 2009, when I experimented with some Alumitones. When Dave Robbins took them out, that's what he tested them at.
Try them out. If for any reason you don't like them, I'll be happy to refund your full amount.

I have one just like it. I called Bill Lawrence and actually spoke with Mrs Lawrence. She told me it was an early model 710 and were in high demand. She said if I was willing to sell it she know people who would love to buy it. I have held onto it and used it in a few guitars. I would love to buy another one.
