I have a Super Reverb and considering a speaker change to use this amp with pedal steel. The amp won't leave the studio and I know the power is limited. With that said, there are choices for 10 inch speakers. Any suggestions before I roll the dice for the upgrade? |

Get 3 different new ones and keep one of the old ones. Then you can move the mic around as you record. |

One of the best sounding amps I ever played through was a Super Reverb (blackface) with JBL's. That was one sweet amp. It would be hard to find 4 of the 10" JBL's nowadays. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Was gona chime the same in a vintage approach. The JBL E110 is a sturdy 10 inch but finding one that isn't a recone is tough and reconing JBL's is not a run of the mill affair. You would need to find someone who knows how to seat the recone on these to get your money's worth of tone.
I bought one off of the Bay some time back, original cone from a Nashville surplus outfit.
This is the 8 ohm version pictured. And if your Super is one of the those that can handle 2 ohm loads, then 4x8 ohms of anything will get you a strong clean response out of the amp.
Other ideas would be the Electrovoice 10M another hard to find speaker but a tough, loud 10 inch. These are heavy and since your amp will be parked..
After that there are new made speakers from other companies but you would need to experiment with them to see if it suits your ears/instrument and your amp's 45 watts @ 2 ohms.
Or if Benjamins are no object, contact Thom Brown at Tone Tubby, he might have some JBL E110's he's reconed or other ideas for PSG use. _________________ ShoBud The Pro 1

I have several of the Tone Tubby 12 inch speakers in other amps and they sound very nice. 4 tens of the Tone Tubby would be $1,200 .....ouch!
I have an Eminence Rajin Cajun 10 inch and that sounds nice and price is reasonable. |
