I'd like to get some quality backing tracks, real musicians.
Does anyone know where I can go to "pick and choose" backup songs to buy reasonably?

I make a lot of my own BIABs but I want some good stuff.
Thanks guys
JB

If you have an iphone or ipad, check out Session Band. You can create your own progressions but, unlike Band In a Box, the instruments are recorded by real musicians in a real studio. There are quite a few styles available through their different apps, some country, some jazz, etc.

Thanks guys,
I'm going to try the Session Band app since it costs less. If I make some good stuff I'll share it.

If you're a fan of Ray Price (who isn't?), you might fancy these:

Hi John
I use these backing tracks for solo work and you can pick and chose different keys/ instruments etc.

http://www.karaoke-version.com/

They are only US$1.99 each. I have probably bought about 100 so far. They are much better than BIAB except you cant alter them.
Once you set up an account it is easy to get them, also you can re-download them again and again (if you lose them). Have a look and play the demo's for free.

Great tip, thanks. Just got a nice track for Silent Night from them. You can also change the key before downloading.

Right on this website under the music section. There are also really good backing tracks that I think I seen John Widgren play to on youtube(some one can jump in with a name if they are farmiliar with the guy who makes the tracks).

I was at Walmart the other day and seen some karaoke cds with classic country songs on them which are descent. The cd is something like 7 dollars, pretty cheap.

Hi Quentin - John is playing to Steve Alcott's Texas Dance Hall Classics track. Steve has 4 CD's, and they are very good. Here is the link:

I just got my first tracks CD from Mike Headrick as a Christmas present. These are the best tracks (for me) that I have found. I only want real musicians, not something generated from some sort of computer program.
I want to get all of Mike's tracks, eventually, as I can afford them.

For me, they are the right length and right as far as intro's and turnarounds. Also, the use of other instruments for the intro's and turnarounds are very well done by good musicians. I want tracks that are not only useful for practice at home, but to play at steel jams where they do not have a live band. Mike's tracks are great for that purpose. You just can't beat the real thing, IMHO. I have bought tracks that were generated from some computer program that are monotonous sounding and go on forever. I guess better than nothing for home practice but useless for a steel jam or playing in public.

I have bought tracks from several people and the only one's I ever used was Bobbe Seymours Priceless or Brian Adams tracks, because they were real musicians playing in a studio.
