after regretfully selling the one I had… I love the El Capistan but its really overkill for most of my needs. I'm picking up an ego compressor as well. Wampler makes great pedals. Im running the echo in the effects loop of my Quilter Steelaire. sounds superb !

I've got an Ego and it is primo. For my simple mind, the blend knob is a no-brainer tweak.
I know what you mean about the El Cap's overkill. It sounds absolutely brilliant but I end up using less than 1/10 of its capabilities. But that little bit I do use sounds better than any delay I've used so I'll keep it (for now).

I've known Brian since days before putting his name on his work. He's many ideas, makes good sounding pedals with pros in mind.

Yes, Karen, but rarely for traditional playing. I have an ungodly pedal board for more rocking or ambience/pad sort of stuff and then the comp works great as a tool. It really works nicely in front of a dirt box for singing distortion and can be cool for jangling stuff. It is most usually an undesirable effect for my purer country steel playing and if I accidentally have it on, I am quickly relieved to kill it when I realize ooops.....
One of the nice things about the Ego is that you can make it pretty transparent if you are just trying to use it for subtle enhancement.

yes i want to use it very scarcely, pre volume pedal. i like the way a small bit of compression smooths things out, but the blend knob is going to be key for this as i get too much squash using my keeley even with its least compressed setting. i think it will be very useful with distortion as well.
