Now don't jump all over me here. Its just this is something that gets under my saddle. I was working the road in the 80s
When cmt began to make its mark. Now I'm gonna go out on a limb here so please don't dust off the Remington's. I said to the boys before a show one evening, that video was gonna steel the imagination from music listening.I believe that came to pass so quickly the that the choice of country styles narrowed down to what would capture your visual attention. OK I won't labor the point. Now I avoid video for the most part unless used as a teaching device. I just don't see the point I've always had great ears , did sound from the stage before a sound man was deemed an artist. I'll get my tongue out of there now. I have nothing but respect for recording people of proven background and those that study it at home. OK am I still visible? I always feel when I'm led to a video clip that the info is going to be visually outrageous or dummied down to the lowest common denominator. Couple points here. I have to get through the ads, then often the content does not load, or it does only to offend. OK I haven't opened a video link in years. Not sure I'm any less informed. ? So why do we revere this medium. I get allot of the fascination and hands on intrigue visual dazzle. At the end of the day I grab a good book and head down to the bsm studio, turn on new and ancient electronics, load a few playlists, set some tunens in the background, put my feet up, look around at my steel that made me a living, the beautiful acoustics I've acquired, the electrics, piano etc. Set the lights low and think to myself this is visual beauty at its finest. Moral of the story I guess is explain it to me in words, let me hear the melody. I like to close my eyes and see what pictures come to mind. Thanks for letting me ramble on here.

Ray, good points. I remember a time when we closed our eyes to enjoy the music only. It was such fun!
I have a few video cartridges and DVD's but they're mostly not viewed.
