Hello,
I am trying to mount a set of Grover tuning machines onto a sho bud key head but the key head is too thick for the grommet to pass through and thread into the machine head. I was wondering if anybody knows of a place I could order longer grommets.
Also it appears that the screw holes in the grovers have been cut off and it depends solely on the grommet/nut to tighten down for securing to keyhead.
ANy help is greatly appreciated!
-Jeff

The proper term is probably threaded bushing.
I'd try Grainger before I tried musical places like Stew-Mac (Grainger will have them beat on volume and has good prices). And when you're not sure what the vendor would call it, take the part in, rather than either the catalog or website.

Jeff...A word of advice, be very cautious to not overtighten the bushings when securing them to the tuner housing, they strip VERY easily (currently have three in my stash as proof).

I'd take keyhead and Grover to Grainger.
I don't know the depths, and they'll change depending on which Grovers you have.

You said the screw holes have been cut off. That is a major problem. It is an absolute must to have something other than the barrel nut to hold the key in place. Maybe you can drill for a compression pin in the back of the key. The barrel nut will not keep the key locked in place.
