I picked up an Emmons GS10. I don't need another one but how can one refuse when there it is? It's in amazingly good shape except that the rosewood mica was sprayed first with red and then, later on, black enamel. Not a good job at all.

Anyway, I'm thinking of carefully but quickly applying paint stripper to remove those two coats. Does stripper ruin or interact negatively with mica? If so, what would you suggest? I really don't want to replace the mica but I guess I could. I have the shop, tools and experience with countertop and cabinet laminates.

Thanks.

Paint stripper will probably remove the Mica...

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus!

I once removed rattle can blue paint from an old Gibson EB3 bass with, believe it or not, Nevr-Dull cotton wadding metal polish! Worked very well, with no damage to the original lacquer. It was a lot of work though!
Maybe rubbing compound?
