I See Musicians Friend Is Charging $10.49 For 1 Finger Pick. Is There A Music Store With Less Expensive Finger Picks?

That depends on the brand of fingerpicks. There's a fairly popular brand among both banjer and steel pickers (I can't remember the name, but it's a Germanic family name) that costs like fifteen bucks per pick. (EDIT: I was thinking Hoffmeyer, at $25.00 a pair)
Dunlop fingerpicks run around a buck and a half each.

If you live near a REAL music store, they probably have some in stock. And if by Minnesota, you mean one of the major cities, you'll have one.

b0b and most of the steel guitar vendors sell picks. I think you looked wrong though. I think the price you saw was for a pack of four.

I just purchased a tube of 20 Dunlop .025 picks from Amazon about a month ago. First fingerpicks I've had to buy since the early '80s. Can't tell much difference between the new ones and my "vintage" Dunlops except the new ones are much shinier. |

I like those picks that Steve Green has pictured above.
I like to use that shape of pick on my Index finger, and a Jeff Newman pick on my Middle finger.
I like to customize the pick to the individual finger shape/thickness/length, etc. |

| Silly me! I've been using the same set of picks for 30 years! Old National for middle finger, double-bladed brass Dunlop for index. Need to make a new double-sider, as the brass pick has worn faster than the National. |

| Have been using Jeff Newman finger picks for years. They are pre bent and are the best I have ever used. Even though Jeff has passed, you still can get his picks from Jeffran or even Billy Coopers Music. |

For me the jury is still out on fingerpicks.
But I have found THE thumb pick I like above all.
This fella here from Propik is the most comfortable and useable thumb pick I have ever used.

John, that's all I use now and they are comfortable and have a good tone when striking string. I put heat shrink on mine and makes them more comfortable. I think I got 4 of them for around $12 off line somewhere. I think it was Elderly where I got mine.

I hear ya, this might be the only thumb pick I've used that didn't feel awkward, and man,
I've got 30 kinds around here. It just seems to get the string I want every time and gives
a consistent sound.

Ive been using JF and the sho-case 41, i think the 41s might have a slight edge on tone vrs the JF. Elderly music is a good place to shop for picks, they have about every thing you need

I`ve been using a metal thumb pick for Steel and five string Banjo for many years, I`d never go back to plastic.
Usually they`re Dunlop.

| I have always used Dunlops. Was going to try some Nationals; they were $10 for 4 at Guitar Center. But found the Dunlop .018s at the local Music Go Round for 75 cents each. |

I still use the old Nationals, for steel, dobro, and banjo. Bought a bunch back in the early 60's. Only had a few that wore out.
