Searching for a Musical Term

I believe this question was asked and answered here a few years ago, but I don't recall the answer, and can't find it with a search.

What is the term for when a different instrument takes over a solo using the same note? Example: jazz soloist improvises a solo ending on a sustained high note. Another band member plays that same note in unison, then the second member continues the solo.

Another example is Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante - a concerto for violin and viola - the two solo instruments trade lines this way. Near the beginning you hear the violin sound a 4-bar theme that begins on G and ends on F. The viola begins on F while the violin is finishing the same note, and plays the theme transposed down a second.

If the same pitch is held over while the chords change it's called a "common tone". Not sure if that's what you're looking for but I suppose it could apply.
