I remember seeing Stu playing that Fender 1000 in Augusta Ga, when he was touring with Johnny, and Kitty. A long,long time ago, had the Sho Bud suits on the front, Sho Bud pickups. I think Weldon was a previous owner.

Man great tone on that old Fender... Looks to me like it was tuned to D9, judging from his bar placement on a song in the key of E...
The tone he was getting was almost identical to the sound Charleton had on several old ET recordings using his old Sho Bud... bob

I had a Fender 1000 back in the 60's that I bought from Bookie Modin. It came tuned to D9th and when I tried to tune it to e9th it would break the lst string when I would attempt to raise it. I ended up trading it for an Emmons D10, PP, from Ron Sr. ah the good 'ol days.
