I have a nice old EMCI D-10 as well as a MCI S-10 and I need one vertical lever system for each guitar. The S-10 is a bit of a bastard with some crummy Emmons Legrand parts on it so might not matter what I use for that one but if possible would like to have an original EMCI vertical lever for the D-10 if at all possible. I have bell cranks, crossrods and pull rods as well as some stops and tuning nuts so its really only the lever and its mounts that I need.
I doubt there's much of this stuff out there but if you know of anything or something that might work please let me know.

I've heard some GFI parts will fit. I don't know but maybe you could check on it.

I kind of like the MCI/EMCI stuff, it's a little bit of a pain to have to bend up new rods when making changes but other than that it seems to work well, easy to move stuff around and adjust the feel of the pulls.
So plan A find the proper parts to do this which given how long they have been out of production might not be too easy or plan B find something else that might work. Fortunately I have the cross shafts and bell cranks so that's a little more than half the battle.
Did Al Brisco wind up with all the Carter spare parts? |

Hi Jay,
I have the Carter LKV module 'island', which can be used with most any make of guitar. Mounts with two wood screws to the bottom of the guitar, with a connecting rod running to the appropriate cross-shaft.
These modules are versatile as they can be placed most anywhere on the guitar.

I was looking last night myself. Michael Yahl has a few things, and I'm sure Jim has most anything you need. Lamb's music in Ft. Worth, TX has probably a few MCI/EMCI leftovers.
I'm re rodding an EMCI right now, and in the process of moving toward gauged rollers, (ala Jim Palenscar) and installing a C6LKL.
I would like to find some of the chrome ringed 705 BL's too. |

Chris,
Perhaps my language re: Emmons above sounds a little harsh. I don't know much about their all pull guitars but the Emmons bell cranks that are on my MCI for the two left knees have three holes which a fitting held on by a C clip goes through (first series Legrand maybe?). The small C clips are a big pain to deal with even with the correct pliers and the three holes don't provide a lot of leverage options. The MCI system has far fewer parts and has more leverage options so much better in IMHO. The actual Emmons lever is a good bit sturdier which may be what you mean? |
