I haven't followed the personal intrigues of this band, so don't know their personal histories, etc. but it sure would have been nice to see them do the tour and then donate all the money to a worthy charity. It's awesome to have that kind of earning power but it would be so much more awesome to see someone choose to use it for a good cause. _________________ www.JimCohen.com

From another web source:
'"I'd break out in hives if I had to play that song every show."
'Lead singer Robert Plant wasn't mincing words when he told the LA Times he'd prefer never to play "Stairway to Heaven" again.'
Guess it was more than money.
An incredible donation to charity would be amazing
but for the incredible amount taken out in promotion and staging. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

Yah, so if they only had a measly $400MM left over after expenses, it could make a whole lot of people's lives better. And what do ya got to do? Sing Stairway to Heaven 35 more times? Poor baby... _________________ www.JimCohen.com

Thank God Mr. Plant is wise enough to know that the whole Led Zeppelin thing is over.
They're too old to pull it off now.
There are many of us who don't care to hear Stairway To Heaven ever again.
We should ask Mr. Branson to skip the Zeppelin concert and just donate the money. |

Would you bet the house that this is a true story? |

It could be that Plant is still worried about the story that 'Stairway' was ripped off a Spirit theme, feels bad about it.
He may be having more fun singing with Alison Krauss than a tour would be; I'd bet the house on that.

Yeah, and he could learn the tune on piano and retitle it 'Steinway to Heaven.' Tour with that. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

True or not, it 'could' be true, it's certainly well within the realm of realities for a band that exceeded reality many times over (and then 1970 happened). But Plant is currently having the time of his life doing his thing and the incessant Zep stuff must be nauseating. His killer band does the Zep songs better than Page Co. can these days. |

I still enjoy listening to my Led Zeppelin albums, although I do skip over Stairway To Heaven.
They were absolutely dreadful to listen to live though,IMO.
If you want to hear great Led Zeppelin songs performed live, listen to the Wilson sisters. |

With The Incredible Shapeshifters, he's no longer having to scream lyrics, another good reason not to resurrect the heyday on the Starship.
Besides, '“I’m going to Nashville on Sunday and can do it on Monday morning [record with Jack White]! I’ve got lunch with Alison Krauss at 2pm and cocktails with Patty Griffin at 8pm.†_________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

Too bad - the guy really put the damper on a perfectly good SGF snarky comments session that sounded awfully far-fetched to begin with - but it would be a shame to ruin such a good thing with logic. _________________ Mark |

Don't worry.
There will be plenty of threads that will be great for snarky comments.
For example:
You gotta love all the threads that blame rock musicians for killing country music and the entire collapse of civilization. |

"Robert Plant has neither met or communicated with Richard Branson in the last 50 years...."
This makes such good soap opera.
Meanwhile, I watched Plant and Krauss working
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-F5L6gOX-E
and he just doesn't need it. |
