If there are any Speakeasy owners out there,I'd love to hear what you think about your steel!

Hi Bob....I'm not a Speakeasy owner but I know a good number of members have bought 6, 8, 10, 12 and even 13 string Speakeasys. All have received excellent reviews IIRC.

Maybe none of the Speakeasy owners are monitoring the forum just now. You might try searching Speakeasy and seeing what comes up. All I've ever heard about the Speakeasy's and Ron's work in general have been nothing but positive. I've talked with him before about options and he is very professional and easy to work with.

Bob
I have two speakeasy guitars. One single 8 and the first D8 that Ron built for me recently. Both are stellar builds both cosmetically and sound-wise. IMHO, blues, rock, swing or Hawaiian you can't do any better than a Speakeasy.

I ordered a blue D8 and Ron went to incredible lengths to make sure the finish was spot on. These lap steels are the best value out there right now.

I have an S-8. It's very nice, but I never play it anymore, because I can't get used to the string spacing. I'm more comfortable with the closer spacing like the old Fender D-8 Pros. Tommy......

Thanks guys...those are beautiful !!! When i was a kid,we had a second hand junk, furniture & antique store just up the street called The Trading Post...they had a Gibson lap steel, sunburst of course, with a Charlie Christian pickup & a small Gibson amp the owner bought at the same time. This was in the mid-sixties,best i remember..it had belonged to someone's dad i believe & it ended up in that store...my interst then was Telecasters...i was just starting to play. The memory of that guitar stayed with me...i've never forgotten how beautiful it was...Ron's guitars brought that back to me.I'm hoping this spring maybe i can order a sunburst 8-string with a Charlie Christian.I feel very blessed to have mine & Ron has quickly answered any email i've sent. It's nice to see someone building a guitar like.
