i've been working away at trying to get my ldg's (2 raise/1 lower) 2nd string half stop to work correctly. i've come close a couple of times, but no cigar.

when i got the guitar, the 9th string lower was setup so that when the lower was tuned for the correct operation, the finger was being pulled even in the no pull position (so that adjusting the hex nut effected the tuning both lowered AND unlowered). i was able to dial the 2nd half feel pretty well, but i knew things weren't quite right.

now i find myself wanting to use the 9th string lower a bit more and have it tuned properly, so i backed off the hex and set the the lower up properly. of course, this really messed up my 2nd string lower...now i can't get the half tone lower low enough without having the 2nd string permanently pulled (like the 9th was).

can someone guide me through the proper way to set this up from scratch? i've been tinkering with it for a while and getting a little frustrated.

Use an extra rod, going from the same bellcrank that lowers string 9, to a raise hole in the 9th finger.

Then to tune it up, set the 9th string drop to start at the exact point that the 2nd string has dropped a semitone, then keep moving the knee lever until it reaches its stop, by which time the 2nd string will have dropped a complete tone, and the 9th string will have dropped a bit more than a semitone. Use the new rod assembly to raise the 9th string back up to a true semitone drop.

I had the same problem with mine. I ended up sending it out for repairs. It may be too far to ship it to Vic but I'm sure you have someone close.
