Found this steel instrumental on an obscure Roy Drusky album. Roy was one of my very favorite singers. This tune popped up with no information or name attached, in the midst of the vocal tunes on a CD titled: "Keepers".

Anyone recognize the style, tone or technique?

Thanks,

If I was guessing and I am I'd say Lloyd Green.

Joe,
I was thinking Lloyd Green also. Pete Drake played on many of Roy Drusky's hits, but this doesn't remind me of Pete's playing.

I do NOT claim to be good at 'name-that-player' but I don't think of either Pete or Lloyd when I hear this.

Yeah Craig, I don’t hear Pete or Lloyd in this either...I’m wondering if it’s maybe Ron Elliot?

Sounds more like his road player maybe. Doesn't sound polished enough to be any of Nashville's 1st or second string session players of that era.

Just my opinion.

This is all I could find on this album. After that the trail goes cold…

Doesn't sound like a studio pro to me. I bet it's not Lloyd or Pete or any other well known steeler.
