Ken

What's the weight with the 15 vs 2-12 ?

Specs say the HD150 with 2-12 configuration is about 72lbs.

How many watts? Can you use a 4 ohm speaker by itself?
Do you know what the speaker is?

As I said, the speaker is an Electro Voice (EVM15L) .

The amp is rated at 150 watts

Not sure of the weight. The 212EV model was 92 pounds, per the info I found, It should weigh around 17 pounds less than that with a 15" EV in it. I have a set of scales at my old shop. Next time I go over I can take the amp and weigh it there.

The speaker jacks are wired in series. So I was wrong, you can't add another 8 ohm to it (as that would be 16 ohms). You can used the main jack to another external speaker instead at 4 ohms and use the speaker impedance selector to get the 4 ohm tap. Another option is to replace the 8 ohm with a nice Neo speaker at 4 ohms and use the 4 ohm tap, greatly reducing the weight of the amp. Then you could add an external 4 ohm speaker in series and use the 8 ohm tap.

2- EL34's can deliver 150 watts? Do you think that's really what this is putting out? How does it compare power wise to your 85 watt Fox amp which I own and love?

It has 4 x EL34. I have no idea how they rated their amps. It is loud as all get out for sure. No idea how it compares to my amp. Probably louder. Remember doubling power is just a 3db volume increase. Take around 10 times the amp power to double volume. Tone wise it is similar to a 135watt Twin to my ear.

Ken, for those who wanted to, couldn't they pretty easily re-wire the extension jack from series to parallel thereby allowing the use of two 8 ohm speakers with the amp on the 4 ohm setting? Or is it that what the 4 to 8 switch is doing?

The jacks could be reworded for parallel operation. Then the swich could be used for the proper output impedance

These are "kick ass" amps for sure. I have the 150 model with a pair of 12" EV speakers and it'll do anything. On gigs where I'm called to play both lead and steel, I plug my steel into the first channel with an old E/H Deluxe Memory Man delay unit and then my guitar in the main channel. Both instruments can be EQ'd as needed and the MM amp will give you a great tone for either one in either channel. The on board phase shifter will give you that classic Waylon Jennings tones for guitar or if you're using it for steel it can be tweaked for a very usable organ tone.... Here's a shot of mine....JH in Va.

Got the amp on the platform scales and it weighs in at 71 pounds.

The EVM 15L speaker weighs 21 pounds, per spec sheet from EV

Amp's net weight without speaker is 50 pounds. 9.85 pounds is the weight of an Eminence EPS-15C.
Basically with a Neo speaker the amp would be around 60 pounds. Just a thought to consider if weight is a concern for anyone interested.
