Thanks for posting this great video on the finest "BAND" in all of America this day and age.

While we all admire the great steel players in the world, credit should definitely be given to those other musicians who share the stage with us.

Those three fiddle players with their mind boggling arrangements and great styling. Until this video, I was never certain which musician was playing what break. They play so seamlessly, it's most difficult
to identify the different players. Simply fabulous!

All of their vocals are right on......harmonies rich and neatly arranged. I'm in love with Dawn's voice and the other lady is equally fine.

BUT........it's the rhythm section that truly excites me the most, musically that is. The way America's idol of our youth, RANGER DOUG fits into the group is something else. His chord changes are nearly constant and his style is wonderful to enjoy.
His right wrist truly sets him apart from all the other guitar pickers in this land.

I can't say enough about the drummer with his brushes and soft touch on the cymbals. The way he blends so well with Ranger Doug and that super fine bass man..........creates an unbeatable rhythm section. I would've loved to have had the opportunity to play with this group of top drawer musicians just once in my life. WOW!

I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to see them in person at the Station Inn a couple of years back.

Not one of them is a show-off......never attempting out play any of their fellow musicians nor to walk on anyone else's musical contribution.

THANK GOODNESS for a group such as this.

This clip is from the available DVD entitled, "Jumpin' Time" recorded live at the Station Inn. A must own for any fan of Western Swing and especially for all John Hughey fans. John really gets to stretch out on this video and his instrumental version of, 'My Weakness is Too Strong' and his stirring solo on Dawn Sears' performance of, 'Sweet Memories' are definite standouts...What impresses me greatly about this band is the admiring glances that you witness on the faces of the other members when one of them is soloing. This is truly a "Super Group" (which is a term that has been bandied about since the '60's, but very rarely applies as strongly as it does in this case!) A band of top notch musicians without attitudes and obviously nothing to prove who are simply enjoying each others talent and company and a sorely neglected style of music that they perform as well if not better, than any others before or since.

Check out their set from last weekend's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco. Click on "band" then check the Time Jumpers box. Paul Franklin was playing steel with them.

Wow, that is 53 minutes of pure goodness!
Clear camera work with close-ups of soloists, does it get any better? Thanks for posting that link...

I do this and don't get the time jumpers. Is there some secret way to pull them up?

Richard, click on the Navigation link underneath the video that's playing. Then check 'Saturday' and check 'Banjo Stage'. The Time Jumpers link is on the top row.

John's a killer C6 player.

Thanks Doug. I'll give the try later when I get time.
