Hello,

New guy here, this being my 2nd post. My first one was posting a picture of my pooch in another thread.Very Happy
I am a bit older, 70+, but still darn good looking and have just begun to take up lap steel.
I have played 6 string acoustic for 15-20 years and arthritis has curtailed my playing a bit.
Having always wanted to play lap steel I figured this would be the time to do it.
At the moment I have a Weissenborn copy, a fairly good one for just beginning I think, and I purchased a cheap ol' Rogue online for $75.
I made a steel nut for it which turned out great by the way and have installed an Epiphone humbucker I had here under a pile a parts.
It also has much more appropriate strings on it and sounds much better.
Later I am going to make a steel bridge and will drill some holes and string it through the body. If I get modestly good at this I will treat myself to a better guitar.
I found Troy's site and ordered lessons and am chugging along fairly well and am enjoying myself immensely. I should have done this a long time ago. A few problems have arisen along with 8,234 questions but they are all typical "newbie" things so I am searching around for a while looking for some answers.
Probably won't be making much noise in here but I will be snooping and reading as much as I can.

Everyone have a good day........................

Larry, you came to the right place for info. You can find nearly all opinions and answers to questions by using the search engine.
I'm 65 and have been playing pedal steel for 40+ years and 8 string lap since this past summer. It's all addictive.
