Does anyone have any info on Dickey Overbeys push pull he used? Like, year and model? I heard him several times live with it and it would absolutely cut like a knife. I know he used a Vibrosonic Reverb which in combination with the PP was a dynamic duo, but there's something about his guitar that just cuts! Mickey Adams, do you know? |

I heard that the push pull he used with Jake Hooker belonged to Bobby Flores and was called Rosie. Don't know much about it other than I believe Dickie lowered his E's on the RR knee which is a bit unusual. |

This is not that unusual and found on many of the factory set up MSA's from back in the days of big steel guitar. _________________ Bruce W Heffner AKA Wally

I bought the guitar that Dicky named "Rosie" from the late Larry Keyt in Georgia around 1997, a rosewood mica bolt-on from 1967. Bobby Flores bought it from me a couple years later, but what he really wanted was a '65 wraparound, the "Bill Johnson" guitar, that I owned.
Bobby played it for a couple years and then sold it to Dicky. Dicky had heard me play the guitar on some Johnny Bush shows and desired it; he was playing an LDG at the time. So Dicky got Rosie from Bobby. Bobby then offered me top dollar (at the time) for the wraparound in question and since we were occasional bandmates and buddies, I let go of one of the herd.
I visited Dicky earlier this year and Rosie was set up in the living room. She needs a good cleaning and setup but tonally is all there. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Herb, thank you for the info!I know that anything Dickey played sounded wonderful, but he always seemed "at home" behind Rosie. Thanks again Herb for sharing!
