I don't often get the itch to write for steel guitar. Just recently, I was fortunate enough to work with a dancer friend (Laura Calmes) who lent her talents to one of my pieces titled "Un Risultato Inquietante".
The steel guitar is a Remington Steel D10. Tuning is from low-to-high (G A Bb C# E F# A C# E B). It's a modified Billy Hew Len tuning.

Matt, what a wonderful video. Without stating the obvious, that is, how beautifully Laura dances to this music, the composition itself is outstanding. I just love the ethereal quality and the tone you employ here. The steel guitar and the other complimentary instruments really worked together here in a marvelous way. Is more of your music in this vein available anywhere? If not, it really should be. You are doing great stuff with your steel guitar. Thanks for posting this for all to see and hear. |

Gentlemen, thanks for the positive feedback. Karl, there are a few live YouTube videos with some other dancers that are in a similar vein to this, but they're mostly improvised and I don't feel they're as up-to-par as this one. If you're curious, though, you can use "steel guitar" and "belly dancer" in your search criteria. And I do have more planned for the near future. Thanks again. |
