In front is my new 67 bolt on. Restored by Billy Knowles. Plays and sound fantastic. Pick ups wound to 11.5 kohm. Thank's to Steinar Schrøder who sold me this jewel.

Billy Knowles sold me a great guitar in all respects and really walked the extra mile to ensure that everything was just perfect, so hence I have to confess that it`s with a bad conscience towards Billy that I let it go, and I have talked this over with him.
The reason is that I have been playing ZB guitars now for so long and have that sound so solidly planted in my head, that even though Billy`s Emmons plays like a dream and has the `67 sound, I still found myself sitting behind the ZB with the Emmons stored in the closet. It just deserved a better fate. With Tore taking over the guitar, it will be played and cared for by a great player and p/p aficionado, and since he will be using it as a studio guitar, we`ll get to hear the sound from Billy`s expertly stored Emmons, on many releases, - since Tore is a busy session musician.
I felt that I owed an explanation for this sale, if nothing else just to make it very clear that Billy sold me a great guitar there was nothing wrong with. It was just that ZB brainwashed me, and as a matter of fact I play a ZB which the same Billy Knowles modernized underneath.

Hello steiner. Is your ZB that Billy worked on a black one? I saw a black ZB at his shop a while ago and I'm pretty sure he said it was for someone from Norway. It wasn't quite finished but he showed me what he had done and I could tell he really takes pride in working on ZBs. Best wishes, Walter.

That ZB may have been mine, since I don`t know of other ZB`s that Billy has sent to Norway.
He modernized the mechanics of the E9 neck, installed helper springs, and did a great job.
The ZB is 1108, previously owned by Bobby Garrett. Tom Brumley tried it out and thought it sounded good, but it needed some work, so he sent it to Greg Jones who gave it a new body, added levers and did a wonderful job restoring the guitar.

After a wanna-be-helpful tried to repair something underneath which he thought needed to be done and without telling me, the guitar was just impossible to tune with the balance offset. So I sent it to Billy and he replaced the old ZB "Christmas trees" with modern mechanics, and now it`s back again in full swing playing Brumley licks.
