| My new 8 string Melbert lap steel arrived today from Robert Allen, and I couldn't be more pleased. It looks beautiful, and sounds every bit as good as it looks. I chose curly maple with a red chestnut stain, and a George L's 10-1 pickup. Bob also included a good TKL padded gig bag, cable, picks and bar with the guitar. I have vintage steels, but I'm really going to enjoy this new guitar with quality tuners, pickup, and volume and tone controls. I'm hoping that Bob will add pictures to my comments. Thanks Bob for a great instument. George |

This shipment of lumber was excellent. The red chestnut oil stain made the quilted pattern stand out nicely.

| Indeed that is a beauty !!! ii have one inblack walnut and have had many offers from those who have heard it and seen it in person and i say......NO WAY ! They are special steels...i am sure you will enjoy your for many years . Congratulations ! |

| I just wanted to say again how much I am enjoying this new steel. My main intrument is pedal steel but recently I have renewed my interest in "lap steel". I have vintage lap steels,[ Magnatone walnut 8 string and two 6 string Ricks but this Melbert built by Bob Allen sounds absolutely great. I like the A6th with G on the bottom. At13th? Anyway, for those of you trying to decide between new or vintage, unless the vintage is a Rick, please consider the Melbert. You can,t do much better, and you get new tone and volume controls and a new pickup, and solid walnut or maple body. |

I've had a lot of fun with this lumber. Here's one that was sliced and diced and glued up butcher block style. The pickup is a Lace Alumitone Bassbar. And then my latest which will be finished in a natural color. This wood came from www.niagaralumber.com I've had pretty good results with them at reasonable prices.

Is that a custom fret board or your standard fret board? Almost looks like a "Sho-Bud" board...I like it! |
