Hi Guys,
I found this very interesting article on lute building the traditional way, with no power tools, no metal clamps, not even a vise, etc.
Everything by hand.
This must be the way Stradivarius built his violins.
I think Alan Brookes will enjoy this as well

Thanks, Jan. Yes, I've seen this article before, although many other members won't have. It was a help when I built this lute a few years back.

Already having a traditional lute which was built by Theakson back in England, (second photo.) I decided to build one which could withstand the California climate without constant need for retuning; hence the modern machine tuners, instead of friction pegs; the fixed frets, instead of tied ones; and the nylon strings, instead of gut (first photo.). |
