I was thinking of getting one of those 6 string 2 pedal steels that Fessenden or Hudson do, maybe with one K lever for good measure (all things being equal) for something light weight with just enough of that steel sound for simple fills/licks.
I'm aware it's not your 10 string 3+4 E9 set up, but what tuning would you suggest would give me more options- straight E (from high G#,E,B,G#,E,B) or
E9 (from high G#,E,B,G#,F#,E) ?

I have a Lone Star 6 string (3 X 4) that is tuned B E G# B E G#. I'm currently living in London but will be moving back to the US in 7 months. At that time, I planning on selling a lot of gear as I just have too much and might be moving out of the country again, maybe in early 2016. Yep, I've got way too much stuff and I don't see myself carrying a PSG and amp overseas if I know it will only be for a year.
If you are interested and could wait until the spring, I'd be willing to part with it instead of keeping it in perpetual storage. It's in great shape, black, two movable pickups, lots of bells and whistles.

| When I play a six string I use an E7 tuning. Starting with the high string it would be E,B,G#,E,D,B. That is probably the tuning the E9 started as. You can do a lot with that tuning. You just have to learn to slant the bar a lot. I also like it for a dobro tuning. |
