Howdy Friends, I saw this video of Buddy Emmons playing, Rose Colored Glasses. He has two Left knee
levers right. I know he lowers the E's on one, But
I was wondering If anybody knew what the other lever did. Especially noticeable and nice at 1.47. Was wondering what make steel guitar that was. It doesn't look like his usual Sho-bud, Emmons or MCI that I've seen him play.Tennessee Lee _________________ 2015 Mullen D-10 Royal Precision 9x8,-1990 BMI S-10 5x5-1972 Silver face Fender pro Reverb amp,-1965 Fender Super Reverb Amp,- 1966 Fender Showman Amp Two 15" JBL speakers,- 2006 65 Fender Twin Reverb reissue Amp,- 1982 Peavey Session 500 amp,-1978 Peavey Session 400,Goodrich Volume Pedals,John Pearse Steel Bars, |

That's the video. I'm missing something here. I see him pushing two knee levers with his left knee to the right. Isn't he playing on the E9th neck? LKL? I don't get it. The second lever is just flopping around since it works in the other direction, so he's essentially just pushing it out of the way. When he shifts his leg over to work the C6 pedals it's his LKL |

Lee. Take a close look at this picture. I'll explain the knee levers. Looking at the guitar from the front (the angle in which this picture was taken), the lever furthest to the right is my LKL rear lever (I have 2 LKL levers).. The next one to it's left is my LKL front. Then to it's left is my vertical lever. To the left of the vertical, you will see my LKL for the middle cluster of knee levers for the C6 neck. The next one to the left of that is my LKR for the E9 neck. When I hit my LKR, the lever for the C6 neck folds to the left because it is actually mounted to the right (from the front of the guitar) of my E9 LKR. It is not 2 LKR levers on the E9 neck.

I think I got it. When he wants to play C6th,He
moves his left leg over to the right and then that second knee lever becomes LKL. Kinda like the Crawford cluster or something like that. Very
ingenious. Thanks Richard, It just became clear to me. Is that what they call the crawford cluster on your guitar? From previous posts I see you play a lot of C6th. Fred thanks for wanting to take the time to call me.
Ian thanks for the info also. Boy I must have taken some more stupid pills last night instead of my regular meds. I Cant believe it took me that long to figure that out! The two LKLs are clustered, LKR is not. That's just another set of levers. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Cluster has almost become a generic term for the knee levers for one leg. The only difference in my left knee cluster and the Crawford Cluster is that he also has 2 LKR levers. I also have a LKL LKV and LKR on my C6 neck. They are mounted toward the middle of the guitar, in between the 4 left E9( levers and the right knee lever. You do have to move your leg over to the middle set of levers when playing C6. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . The great John Hughey had two left knee levers for his E9 neck....according to his tab books. _________________ GFI Ultra SD-10; Nashville 112; Hilton pedal, George L Cables; Pearse bar; Live Stings;Walker seat by Billy Knowles. |
