I have been enjoying sonny's magic, since i first purchased his steel guitar album from Tom Bradshaw years ago. It was when tom had his record club years ago. One of the very best. |

I've gotta say that Sonny played on a lot of the country records I listened to as a kid. I didn't know any steel players back then, but I loved the sound-an example of Sonny's work was on a few of my favorite songs by The Judds-songs like "Grandpa", "Mama He's Crazy", and "Young Love". I also remember around 1996, as a teenager, I'd gotten Shania's first record, "Shania Twain", which came out in 1993, which Sonny had played on-he was great on that record too, and of course there was Kenny Chesney's song "She's Got It All" which Sonny played that fast steel solo on-if I try to play that solo, my fingers get nervous-ha ha! Of course, one of my all-time favorite records Sonny played on was Chalee Tennison's first record, self-titled Chalee Tennison, which featured her song "Just Because She Lives There"-not sure how Sonny did the steel intro, but I've always wanted to learn it. Sonny is one of my all-time favorite steel players! |

Whenever I'm listening to an old Country CD and am impressed with the steel playing, I look at the credits and, more than likely, it lists Sonny as the steel player. |

Sonny Garrish is well deserving of this award. About all he has done is played on countless number of records for 3 to 4 decades. What an impressive career and I understand a first class individual as well. I am happy he was able to go and receive the award in person. |
