Thanks Kelly , I don't have a clue on dating Remmingtons , maybe some owners will chime in. If I could sell some stuff I'd be all over this. A friend of mine has a mid 80s S8 that's white , Yours really stands out with the natural finish.

I have one just like it and it sounds incredible. Never had more compliments on the tone of a steel ever. It is one of the newer one, built since Herb can't cut the wood anymore. Herb still assembles them, but his buddy who builds the cases (can't remember his name, but Herb will direct you to him if you email him on the Remington site), does the woodwork and it is top notch.

I'd link to some clips of just how good these things sound, even when running directly into a studio board sans amp, but I'm too much of a technophobe to figure it out. I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I wasn't in the middle of building a house.

I saw Cindy Cashdollar a couple of weeks ago and she was playing a double neck exactly like it.

I have the bill of sale (from Herb) from the original owner of my Steelmaster. That is the only way I know how to date them. I can second the great tone and sound of these steels. I have a natural finish just like this one. I keep it in A6 just like Herb too. It is literally music to my ears playing it. You can't go wrong with a Remington Steelmaster.

When looking at the original listing which you referred us to, it indicates that the model pictured above is a 25 1/2" scale. The new one's shown on the Remington site are 24 1/2" scale standard. Am I correct? Would there be a difference in tone and feel? I have heard the 24 1/2" scale model and it does sound sweet.

Let me check... OK, I get 24.25" with my tape measure, which is ALSO not 24.5". I'll measure it again when I go back downstairs.

Thanks Kelly, perhaps they made a change or maybe they just advertise it as 24.5, but I don't think 1/4" would make much of a difference tone wise. I bet yours sounds sweet and it sure looks good.

Kelly, I am the one who made a mistake. Remington advertises it as a 24 1/4" scale. I got confused with their 22 1'2 " scale also advertised. Great looking guitar. I am considering getting one but am trying to decide whether or not to go with a new one.
