I was wondering if that would be the outcome.
Good thing kijiji doesn't have a "buy it now" button.
I would have hated to to have clicked on it inadvertently when the price was 40K$ ! |

Even the 400 bucks is steep for a MOTS covered lap steel... |

I have the exact same guitar sitting in a case. I don't have time to play all my lap instruments. Mostly doing pedals currently. If $400 is too much for an almost like new one what do you experts feel they're worth? By the way I think mine's a lot older than 1962, it has the old screw on microphone type output jack instead of a 1/4" phone jack. _________________ GFI Ultra U-12 7+5 E9/B6, Roland Cube 80XL, Telonics FP-100 Volume pedal with TMRS remote sensor (courtesy of Dave Beaty and Telonics) |

There's a '54 National Chicagoan in the for sale section of the forum for $200. On ebay you can usually find the various models of Valco/Supro lap steels like yours for $175 to $300. I've seen many listed at substantially higher numbers but haven't seen them sell for over, say, $300 and that's rare. _________________ Steve |

Welcome to the economy of musical instrument pricing in Canada.
New, used, whatever, Canadian prices are usually 20 to 25% higher than in the US in our respective currencies. It's a function of both smaller market size (supply <-> demand), factory/distributor pricing structures and likely duties and taxes. E.g., Standard Strat = $499 US at MF, same guitar at L&M = $599 CDN. Exchange rate doesn't account for much of the difference (right now anyways).
Those prices can and do trickle down in to the used market but the internet is starting to level the playing field a bit. Used market in Canada still has a bit of catching up to eBay prices, though.
$40K is a bit high though....
