Hi guys, please can anyone shed any light on which 15" speaker would be the best choice for my Bradshaw Webb, my choices are either EPS15C or the Telonics TSNEO 15-4.
Best wishes,
Dave. UK _________________ SHEFFIELD D10 9+8, Bradshaw Webb 614-E, Pro-Fex 2, Hilton electronic volume pedal & Sheffield tone bars. |

Dave I have the Telonics 15's and they are outstanding, I have no experience with the EPS but you can't go wrong with the Telonics speakers. _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

As I said on the phone, I haven't tried the EPS speaker but there has been good reports from Tommy, and Mike Johnson also has one in the Peavey LTD that he uses for live gigs. However, I have tried the Telonics Neo and it is an incredible speaker. It is voiced so closely to the D series (holy grail of the JBL production guitar speakers), yet can handle the same power as a Black Widow. Dave Beaty is a perfectionist who will not release any of his products unless it is perfect. It also helps that he plays steel guitar. Dave worked extremely closely with the techs at Eminence and discarded their EPS as it wasn't what he wanted. A lot of R&D hours were put into the Telonics Neo, and the end product is as smooth and sweet-sounding a loudspeaker as you could wish for.
It's a shame there aren't any EPS speakers available commercially in the UK, or you could A/B them to see which is best suited to your amp.
I am picking up the amazing and lightweight Telonics TCA500 combo amp tomorrow, but I intend to get a Telonics Neo 15" 4 ohm chassis speaker to go in my Webb to replace the BW 1501 I have in it at the moment. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. I couldn't believe it when I first picked it up Paddy. Half the weight of my Webb, and that has a Neo Black Widow in it. I have been a bit busy with gigs and stuff to give the TCA-500 a real workout. However, first impressions are very good to say the least. I will give it a really good testing this week in my studio. I played my Emmons push pull through it for an hour or so. Its the best it has sounded since I first owned it.
What effects unit did you have in yours? I put a TC Electronics G-Force in mine. Wonderful - especially the pitch shifter. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Hi Ken
you will be impressed mate, I've used it for quite a few fly dates, and small stage gigs .. and a couple of sessions as well. Currently I have just been using the built in digital reverb which is really good. I will probably put in a Lex MX300, same as I have in my rack - once I track one down at the right price _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

I am impressed Paddy. I spent much of yesterday giving the TCA-500 a really good workout. I originally dialled out the 800Hz mid range point, but changed it to 500Hz and bingo! there was the tone I wanted. The bottom end on this thing is even bigger than my Webb, and that is saying something. The EQ section is so comprehensive that you can literally have any tone that you want. The Blend control is very useful in as much that you can get your basic tone, and tweak the Blend control from gig to gig to make any minor tonal changes to suit.
The cabinet is lightweight birch ply, and no doubt contributes towards the overall tone. I like the fact that I can control the amount of effects from my TC Electronics G-Force from a single control on the TCA-500. This product could possibly become THE boutique steel guitar amp of the next decade at least. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator.
