The Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA sent an email regarding upcoming events. Robert Randolf is playing a free concert in Fall River, MA August 17. Anywhere in Rhode Island to Fall River is an easy ride and only an hour from the Boston area.

I am only 15 minutes from FR and I'll be in the front row

Hey guys,
I saw RR for "free" as well last December at the Wolf Den in the Mohegan Sun Casino.
Let's just say his performance has influenced me....forever!
He's an enigma for sure, as I spent the whole night watching him play his S12 (or maybe it was a 14?) and he barely used a pedal! Forget about knee levers...never touched one. Yet he got more rock sounds out of that steel than a stratocaster.
Btw his bass player is not to be missed...wow!
Hope to see you there.

Hi Tony, I`d love to see you and Lenny there. Maybe we could talk the Local Ambassador Eddie Cunningham to come as well. I had a dream about the Hall of Famer last night.

Tony...Seem to recall that the guitar that Jerry Fessenden built for him was a 13 string, but could be mistaken.

It's a deal! What better event to enjoy together!
Lenny, hold five seats in the front row Wink (sure...)
Dave, why don't you come up and join us and we'll
inspect that 12, 13 or 14 string creation together?!
Plus I think they let you bring your own booze and even food....

Sam trust me you would not enjoy this show unless you like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton.
Do you know who Robert Randolph is?

Tony No I don't know who he is but he plays a Steel Guitar does'nt he?? If I hear a Steel guitar I will like it unless he plays Country Rock Music or blues music I do not want to hear him.Hope to see you next Sunday at the RISGA Meeting and Jam.I seen Roger Trahan today at the American legion post 15 in East Greenwich today and as usual he done a great job of playing his Steel Guitar.Roger Glenn miller has that TV show on channel 13 Statewide interconnect and he is going to have a show with frank Golart Vinny Dolye and Me on a TV show next month and all three of us will be playing our Steel Guitar's. This should be a blast. I will be practicing every day and night so i can get it half right I hope.

I don`t think "Mansion on the Hill" is part of Robert Randolph`s repertoire.

It looks like a Stevens bar, but they are marketed by Shubb Capos in Northern California:

I guess you are right Tony I would never be able to stand that kind of music. Guys count Anna and I out on that show.It would drive me out of my head.To me that is not music.I do remember hearing him on the forum once. Thanks but no thanks I'll just sit here home and Play my kind of music Good Old Country Music. It has been in my blood since I was 8 years old. just think if I had started playing when I was Eight years old. Might have been as good as Buddy Emmons, John Hughey,You Tony Palmer, Roger Trahan , Manny Escobar,Eddie Cunningham,Len Amaral,Ray Walker,Sid Hudson,Bobbe Seymor,Merle Record, and all the great Steel players.I will just have to settle for the way i play.

Sam, it still is a good idea to keep on the lookout for nationally known steel players that might come to our area and get a bunch of us together to attend.
In fact, we did just that a few years ago, at the very same place, when we saw Cindy Cashdollar with Dave Alvin. I'm sure you would have liked that show as she was playing lapsteel and dobro, mostly country swing style.

Oh Tony I would have loved to see Cindy Cashdollar play her lap Steel and the Dobro. I might bring my Dobro to the meeting this coming Sunday and my Lap Steel.I will have you guys tell me if I have a good sound. I have a friend in South Carolina that has a Fender Blues tube amp and I was thinking about buying it for $240.00 but I know what I have here and I do not know about a tube amp. Hope to see you Sunday at the meeting and jam.

Elaine Ellis and I saw Robert Randolph in Fall River last night. This theatrical superman of steel guitar has taken the instrument where no one has gone before.

Manny & Tony, I didn't get to the Robert Randolf concert as I was not feeling well Oh Well There's always a next time....

Anyone in within driving distance of Fall River should check out the line up at Narrows Center for the Arts as they have top shelf artist performing. Last week I saw Tommy Emanual and all I can say is WOW!

There is also another venue in Tiverton, RI called Sandy Woods that is very nice with many well known performers. The community at Sandy Woods was built by Pete Sieger's daughter and her husband.
