I currently have the telonics 84 pickup and am getting distortion when I dig into the strings. Is this normal for this pickup? It does it on all amps and more so at lower volumes. I have to be easy on the strings at low volume so this doesn't happen. Any advice appreciated. |

If you can adjust the pickup height, lower it.
You might find not only that it distorts less, but the tone might get sweeter. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Thanks guys, I have adjusted the pickup height and that has helped tremendously. It seems the screws that mount the pup had backed out and was way to close to the strings. I even called telonics and received the best customer service I have ever experienced. Steve walked me through everything and sure enough it was the height of the pup. I am learning tons of information about the steel thanks to you guys. |
