Yes, the F note in a G7 chord is very tolerant of a wide range of temperament choices. For example on E9, open strings, I often lower the G#s and raise the Es to play G7. On my meantone tuning the GBD triad is nicely tempered. But that "F" is actually tempered as E#, so the minor seventh between G and "F" is 20 to 25 cents short of ET. In other words 975 to 980 cents, like the "barbershop" seventh of that article. It surprised me when I noticed that it sounds so sweet. But it does, and I use it.

That's a position I never thought of, Earnest. Thanks!!

I can't do it on my E9th (my knee can't go both directions at once), but on C6th it's an Eb7 chord with P6 + the C>C# lever and the A>Bb lever. I tune meantone like you do, and it sounds really nice. Very Happy
