Hey there Pedal Steelers...

I'm selling this for my boyfriend who's a multi-string player. Years ago, when down in Nashville, he got the pedal steel bug and bought this Sho-Bud Professional. He never learned to play it.

He had it completely overhauled and we've had it in our temperature controlled closet ever since (maybe 15 years).

We're not looking to make money on it, we just want to get out of it what he put into it. It's got a volume pedal and the case is in fine shape. All in all, the whole thing has been well taken care of...compared to others we've seen out there, this should be a bargain.

Price - $950 + shipping/handling (unless you live close to the Hudson Valley)

We're looking for a good home for this instrument.

Thanks to everybody who emailed me!

I (surprisingly) received many offers within an hour of posting this and I don't know who to pick. I guess whoever makes me the best offer gets it!

Please email me within the next 24 hours 1) your final price and 2) your zip code and I'll find out what shipping will cost. And PayPal is totally fine.

I'll make a decision by tomorrow night. Please be advised, I'm currently on vacay and I won't be able to ship it until the 18th.

THANKS for your responses everyone and Happy Sunday!

Usually the first person who says "I'll take it" on here gets it, this isn't supposed to be ebay. I didn't send an email but that's the fair way.

the guitar was advertized for $950.00 so it Should go to the first person who responds "I'll take it" by email. You should go to ebay if you want a d#*m auction! this is not how we do business on the Forum!
How many Forum members agree with me????

Who has a temperature controlled closet? I see a number of flags and I'd want to see this in-person before I'd blindly send even $1.

Guys, I'm guessing Stephanie is not a forum regular and is not aware of "how we do things around here". Let's try and be helpful.

Good Point Larry. HOWEVER The asking price was met and it should be accepted.

I wonder if the behavior of the seller was driven by initially unsolicited offers in excess of asking price by forum members. Are there forum guidelines regarding offers above the asking price?

I doubt this seller gives a darn how we normally do business on the forum. They are going to get the most they can from this one transaction, and then they will never be heard from again.

Nor is this craigslist where seller's advertise selling prices and then they don't hold them when interest is shown.

People who aren't regulars probably don't have a good handle on market rates, on the other hand, five minutes of searching ebay or the forum with the terms: "sho bud" "professional" should be considered the minimum of due diligence by a seller.

If they are not, the forum rules should be clear on how issues like this will be handled, doesn't stop seller's from walking over to ebay though, but at least establishes the cultural decorum of gentlemanly conduct for the community of steelers.

I was gonna stay outta this - I'm not trying to buy this guitar - but there have been so many pilers-on here that I feel the need to say something.

There are no forum rules telling a seller to whom they should sell any more than rules telling a buyer from whom they should buy. It's been discussed ad infinitum, ad nauseum, and b0b has so far wisely chosen to stay out of it - you can look up the many relevant threads and see that this is true. IMO, the principals - prospective sellers and prospective buyers - must come to a mutual understanding and agreement on all the terms of a deal, and the rest of us should stay out of it.

My take - a seller who obviously knows little to nothing about pedal steel offers a steel way below the typical going rate, and within minutes, a pile of people say, "I'll take it." by one means or another. It's always the same old story.

There's a lot more to making a long-distance transaction than saying, "I'll take it." Yes, it would be better if everybody was savvy about pedal steels and did their research on values, shipping, and so on. But this "Gotcha', I was the first person to respond and you GOT to sell it to me way below market." is not right. Frankly, neither is it 'gentlemanly'. IMHO.

Also note that the 'first responder' here is taking a more circumspect approach. Kudos, Alex.

I assume she has a buyer, so I'm closing this ad.
