For MY personal taste........

I'd describe the sound as being too thin for my liking. But the amps suggested here are not for me.

I get the best tone from my Rickenbacker bakelite & frypan, with the Valco built National amps, and the clones of those, that I build.
I've been through the Fender Tweed Deluxe, the Princeton reverb, and still have a Vibrosonic Reverb. The Fender scooped mids just don't do it for me...

Of course the tone etc for folks ears is a subjective thing....
