I just tried to order one. I found out that they are no longer being made. I'm very disappointed. I thought this was the best of the current day 6 string lap steels. Very sorry to have sold my last one now for my pedal experiments. So, what do I do? What I'm after is a humbucking pick up and the wide string spacing that comes with a 6 string guitar (hand problems). Oh woe is me. Crying or Very sad

I don't believe Chandler has made lap steels for quite a while. Unfortunately eBay is going to be your best bet.

You might want to check out Bob Allen of Allen Melbert Steel Guitars, email: melbertsteels@gmail.com Bob makes some pretty good solid wood lap steels at a very reasonable price and is very easy to work with.

You might also try using the Search All Craigslist website to find what you're looking for.

Ed - There's a Chandler RH2 for sale on Austin Craigslist (posted yesterday). Seller is asking $300, including hard shell case.

I have discovered that George Piburn is now making 6 string models. Though another alternative is not absolutely out of the question, I had an excellent experience with an 8 string model of his. So that's where I'll probably go. Thanks for y'all's replies. I'll have a look at Melbert as well.

The Chandler RH I used to own sounded pretty good but I sold it long ago because I found the string spacing too narrow.

I found the string spacing adequate. But less than ideal. And the reason I'm going back to 6 strings now is for more string space. So maybe this was a lucky thing for me.
